Diana Edinam Kumbey, WopeCar’s PR and Communications Specialist, has always believed in the power of storytelling. From articles to videos and live interviews, Diana has used diverse platforms to connect with audiences and craft meaningful narratives that resonate with people.
Today, as WopeCar’s PR and Communications Specialist, she’s using that same skill set to shape the brand’s voice and deepen its impact.
Before WopeCar, Diana spent three years writing for a lifestyle website. But when COVID-19 hit, the media landscape shifted; and so did her role.
“With fewer people reading and more consuming videos, my editor asked me to start producing content for YouTube,” she shares.
“That’s how I began creating a Top Ten series and a fashion interview show, all remotely. I was finding the topics, scripting the flow, recording voiceovers; even guiding guests to film themselves,” she said.
At the time, Diana didn’t realize she was already producing. But a chance conversation with someone in television changed everything.
“He told me, ‘But that’s production! You’ve already been doing it.’ That insight opened the next door.”
Soon after, Diana transitioned into full-time TV production, eventually adding presenting to her skill set. For nearly four years, she worked on various shows, sharpening her skills in coordination, scripting, and on-air delivery. But true to her restless creative spirit, she began craving her next challenge.
That challenge turned out to be public relations.
“I’d just completed my master’s degree, and PR felt like the next step,” Diana explains.
“When I look back, I see how everything I’ve done has prepared me for this. Writing gave me storytelling skills. Production taught me how to coordinate people and ideas. Even pitching TV guests helped me learn how to position others; which is exactly what I do now.”
Diana joined WopeCar in 2025, and even though her role is focused on communications, she stepped in to support social media operations in the absence of a dedicated manager. More than that, she’s led high-impact initiatives that connect WopeCar to communities in meaningful ways.
One of her most memorable experiences so far has been the brand’s ongoing collaboration with the AKAYA Foundation. What began as a simple outreach DM has grown into a multi-event partnership focused on education, empowerment, and health.
In their most recent joint event, Diana and the team visited a school in Somanya ahead of Menstrual Hygiene Day, leading discussions with young girls about menstruation, career goals and confidence.
“After we wrapped up, one of the girls came to me and said, ‘Madam Diana, I will miss you,’” she says. “That moment? It just stayed with me.”
For Diana, this role is more than a job; it’s a journey of connecting the dots between her past and present, and using every skill she’s gained to make a difference.
