The EMY Africa Expo 2025 wasn’t just another event on our calendar. It was an opportunity to redefine what teamwork looks like at WopeCar. From Thursday to Sunday, our team showed up, stretched beyond our comfort zones, and delivered an experience that reflected not just our brand, but our people-first culture. It wasn’t about who was in sales or who was in customer support; it was about all of us coming together to make it work.
For four days, we manned our booth at the Expo, where visitors were drawn in by our "Spin the Wheel" activation. A simple but exciting attraction that invited people to engage with us, hear our story, and walk away with branded goodies like pens, mugs, tumblers, air freshener and t-shirts.
But what truly set this experience apart was how our team came together.
Instead of leaving the heavy lifting to our sales team, we operated on an all-hands-on-deck approach. With only two core salespeople, we divided ourselves into two shifts to ensure no one was stretched too thin.
Our social media manager, Visly, deserves special recognition. She powered through all four days, capturing content, interacting with visitors, and ensuring our online community felt the energy of the Expo.
It wasn’t easy. For many of us, stepping out of the office and into a highly interactive, face-to-face environment meant pushing beyond comfort zones. It meant standing for long hours, starting conversations with strangers, and pitching our services over and over again. But every team member rose to the occasion.
Meeting Our People
One of the most rewarding moments from the Expo was finally meeting some of our long-time clients in person. As a largely online car rental service, most of our customer interactions happen virtually. The Expo gave us the rare chance to put faces to the names we’ve engaged with over time. The joy on their faces when they met our team, including our General Manager, Sheena, and our customer service representatives, was priceless.
The Power of Visibility
The Expo also reinforced the impact of our past influencer collaborations. Visitors frequently mentioned that they had heard about WopeCar before. Through influencers, social media, or mutual contacts. It was a proud reminder that the work we’re doing is resonating beyond the digital space.
Lessons We’re Taking Forward
More than anything, the EMY Africa Expo reminded us of the power of:
Teamwork: Everyone’s contribution matters when you’re working toward a shared goal.
Agility: Sometimes you need to wear multiple hats to make things work.
Stepping Outside Comfort Zones: Growth happens when we stretch ourselves.
Influencer Marketing and Digital Footprint: Consistent brand storytelling through influencer collaborations and digital platforms builds trust before you ever meet your customer. Many visitors knew WopeCar’s name even before stepping into our booth; a reminder that what we build online leaves a lasting offline impression.
We’re proud of the connections we made, the stories we shared, and the impact we created over those four days.
To everyone who stopped by our booth, thank you for engaging with us. To our team, thank you for showing up with heart and grit.
