There’s something about anniversaries that makes you pause. Not just to look back at how far you’ve come, but to reimagine the road ahead.
For us at WopeCar, our 8th anniversary wasn’t just about raising a glass. It was about celebrating the people, the partnerships, and the possibilities that have carried us this far and reminding ourselves of where we’re headed.
On Friday, August 22, 2025, we gathered with friends, partners, influencers, and community members at the Impact Hub forecourt for an intimate yet vibrant evening. What struck us most, however, was the atmosphere. It was open, warm, and full of energy. People came ready to network, to share stories, and to simply enjoy being part of the WopeCar journey.
More Than a Celebration
The evening opened with a heartfelt welcome from our General Manager, Sheena Sue Biney, setting the tone for what the anniversary truly represented.
It wasn’t long before Will Senyo (Co-founder; Impact Hub) took the stage to share something that had been years in the making: our first electric vehicle (EV).
The unveiling of the EV was a statement about sustainability, about innovation, and about our commitment to shaping the future of mobility in Ghana.
As Will spoke about what this meant for the brand and for our customers, the room buzzed with excitement. This was not only about our celebration of the past eight years; it was a glimpse into the next chapter of our story.
A Community of Influencers and Friends
One of the things we’re most proud of is the community that has grown around WopeCar. Over the years, we’ve worked with a wide range of influencers and storytellers who have amplified not just our voice, but our vision.
At the anniversary cocktail, familiar faces from that community joined us. We had Akosua Shirley, Miss Enny, Zuu from Stay By Plan Podcast, 4everJoey, Nubuke (one of the hosts of our anniversary podcast series), and Eno Quagraine (Talkative Mom), among others.
These are not just collaborators; they’re part of our story. Whether through our podcast series, campaign partnerships, or shared experiences, each of them has contributed in unique ways to WopeCar’s journey.
And of course, no celebration is complete without food. Nyonyo Essentials, led by Chichi Yakubu, served a spread that kept conversations going and spirits high; a reminder that food, much like cars, has a way of bringing people together.
Beyond the Party: Community Matters
If there’s one word that sums up WopeCar, it’s community. Beyond the influencers, we were delighted to have representatives from Akaya Foundation and La Yahoshua School with us that evening. These aren’t just names to us, they’re partners in impact.
At La Yahoshua School, for example, we’ve had the privilege of supporting children through their academics, easing financial burdens for some families, providing learning materials, and walking with the students as they grow.
These initiatives remind us that WopeCar is not just about cars; it’s about people, growth, and the spaces where lives intersect.
The Road Ahead: Getting Better, Not Looking Back
So, what comes after eight years? For us, the answer is simple: we’re not changing. We’re just getting better.
We’ve heard the feedback, the criticisms, and the suggestions from our community. And instead of brushing them aside, we’ve embraced them. That’s why we hold monthly learning sessions within our team, bringing in experts to help us improve, from customer experience to storytelling. Each session sharpens us, and each step makes us better at serving our community.
The introduction of the EV marks a bold new chapter. But it’s only the beginning. We envision a future where more people can rent and use EVs through WopeCar, where sustainability isn’t an add-on but a standard, and where community impact remains at the heart of everything we do.
As we step into our new year, we carry the same values that got us here, but with deeper conviction. Sustainability. Community. Growth. These aren’t just buzzwords for us; they’re our road map.
